Does anyone know how to sort out a problem copying to memory cards via USB?
My Mum and Dad have a Dell 4550 and we have just bought them a Sony MP3 player. They have a Kodak photoframe but they can’t copy to SD etc card or to USB memory flash drive (or the MP3 player). It stops copying at about 4% and then comes up with an error. My brother in law has also tried sort it out. You can copy FROM USB by not TO USB. It may be that there is a conflict somewhere. I have updated all USB drivers, but still no good. System runs XP Home and is about 5 years old. also running SP3. It only came to light when frame and MP3 was bought as presents for them by the family! Any ideas? Thanks

as with all hardware and peripheral issues my first port of call would be the support section on the kodal website( http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=7269&pq-locale=en_GB&hidefocus=false) and from a initial observation of the webpage i have noticed a few possible reasons for your problem
the first is you need to allow the kodak photoframe to fully communicate with the computer,this can take a few minutes in some cases however you need to allow it to finish connecting before moving files
also you cannot copy pictures to your memory card when its in the photo frame,the pictures need to be transfered using the computer and the software supplied,or by using the windows “move” or “copy” functions
your best option would be to transfer the data to the p.c via memory card,and save in a pre-assigned folder marked “kodak saves” and then copy the pcitures to usb from your p.c instead of the photoframe
there is nothing wrong with your usb ports and since windows xp does not require usb drivers(only needed for windows 95/98) these are fine
however when using usb ports for transfering any data allways use the rear ports on the motherboard and not the front usb ports that are connected to the motherboard via usb headers
and then theres the actual memory flash drives(memory sticks/pens),sometimes if other programs or data are installed or present on the flash drive you may receive error messages similar to yours,is there any way to store the data on cd/dvd on a temporary basis or until you have transfered the pictures from your picture/photoframe
and finally and of upmost importance have you installed the most recent drivers for your kodak photoframe,you can download them by using the driver locater at http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=10/7895&pq-locale=en_GB,just select the type of product and then the model and you can then download the latest drivers for your specific kodak photoframe
