Can I connect USB Storage Devices to my Sony KLV-32V550A HDTV?
I was able to view photos from my Sony cybershot. But I’m pretty confused if i should connect my Buffalo USB Storage device to my tv. It has a lot of different files (Pictures*jpeg,bmp, Video *avi,mpg,mkv,wmv* and audio *mp3,aac etc) And also HTML files, MS Office files, notes, Softwares etc.
Basically I use it to store my PC Data. So, should I connect it to my tv or not?
The USB port on the Sony TV only reads some file types. Yes it does other Sony products like the cybershot really well. And it would do JPEGs fine. I think it does MP3s fine too. But with videos it only does MPEG-1 codec. That really isn’t used to much any more. So if your videos are rips downloaded off the internet, they are very unlikely to be read by the TV (via the USB port).
But it does not hurt you to try. So why not? Stick it in. Then go through the drive and look at various files. See what works and what doesn’t. If you find enough things working well, keep it plugged in. If the things you really wanted to use it for do not, then unplug it and don’t use it.
