Which MP3 player stores the most tracks?

Both off these MP3 players have a 2GB memory. However, on the website it says that the Sony 2GB MP3 Player “stores up to 1,000 tracks”, when it also says that the iPod Shuffle 2GB “stores up to 500 songs”.
How can this be possible if they both have 2GB of storage?
And which of these MP3 players would you recommend most?

The Sony MP3 player has a screen and the iPod doesn’t, but the iPod is tiny and cute. I can’t decide! XD
The Sony MP3 Player can store up to 1000 songs if it stores your songs in a low memory state, meaning the quality of music would not be as great if you were to buy the ipod shuffle. BUT, the sony could also have a micro sd card slot which allows you to put up to another 2gb of storage on the MP3 Player, however if that is the case it would cost more.
I am an apple lover myself, I have an ipod touch which I love and I had the ipod mini and 2nd generation nano before that which I also loved.
I would always recommend buying the apple product over any other MP3 player because they are the best made product, they are reliable and durable, and most of all VERY VERY UNIQUE. they are always looking for new ways to better there products.
And depending on where you buy it (I reccomend best buy) you can get a product warranty from the store and then in september or october when they make a new model you can go in (break it somehow without smashing it) and they will give you a comparable apple product as a replacement.
NOTE: They will give you a choice of replacing it with the same model or a model the same price as you paid.
