On the SanDisk Sansa e200 series mp3 players, how do you make individual folders or playlists?
I recently brought a SanDisk Sansa e260 mp3 player as my first experience into the mp3 world since it was fairly cheap. The thing I’m having trouble with is after I download the songs I want to hear, I can’t divide them like I want to. For instance, if I want playlist/folder #1 to be all my favorite rock music and playlist/folder #2 to be all my favorite jazz music, I have no idea how to separate my songs. It seems like when it’s downloaded from my computer it’s all dumped into one main folder where you have to ‘play all’ and hear all your songs. What if I wanted to have some easy listening music for a cocktail social and wanted to drop songs into my ‘easy listening’ folder to play only those songs. It seems like I don’t have a choice of where to put my music or how I want to organize it. If anyone is familiar with this type of mp3 player, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
o create a playlist using Windows Media Player 10, follow these steps:
1. On the “File” menu, click “New Now Playing List”.
2. In the “List pane, click “Now Playing List”, point to “New List” and then click “Playlist”.
3. Drag items from the “Contents” or “Details” pane in your library to the List pane to add them to the new playlist.
4. In the List pane, click “New Playlist”, and then click “Save Playlist As”.
5. In the “Save As” dialog box, type the playlist name in File name.
6. Your new playlist is added to the “My Playlists” category in the Contents pane.
To transfer your playlists to your Sansa using Windows Media Player 10, we need to set the Sansa to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode.
In order to change the USB mode of the player, follow these steps:
a. Press the “Power/Menu” button of your Sansa and go to “Settings”.
b. Under “Settings”, there should be a “USB” option. If you are using Sansa e200R, look for “Mode” option.
c. Select “Auto Detect”. If you are using Sansa e200R, look for “PlayForSure” option.
Now, please follow these steps:
1. Click the “Sync” tab to open the synchronization panel.
2. Click “Synch Settings” to bring up the “Synchronization Settings” dialog box.
3. Check the box next to “Synchronize The Device Automatically”.
4. Next select “All Playlists” in the view box.
5. Next, under the “Name” box, check those playlists which you want to download to the device. This not only installs the songs but also the playlists onto the device to be used for playback.
To create a playlist using Windows Media Player 11, follow these steps:
1. Click the “Library” tab. If you need to clear the List pane before beginning to create your playlist, click the “Clear List Pane” button .
2. Drag items from the Details pane to the List pane to add them to the new playlist.
3. To select multiple adjacent items, press and hold the “Shift” key while selecting. To select non-adjacent items, press and hold the “Ctrl” key while selecting.
4. To rearrange items, drag them up or down in the List pane.
5. To save the list, click “Save Playlist” at the bottom of the List pane, and then type a name for the playlist.
6. By default, playlists are saved with a .wpl extension in the Playlists folder, which is usually located in the Music folder. You can also save playlists with the .m3u or .asx extension. To do so, click the List button at the top of the List pane, click Save Playlist As, and then change the extension in the Save As dialog box. Once you save the playlist, it’s added to the Playlists category in the library.
7. To play the playlist in the List pane, click the “Play” button.
8. To access the playlist in the future, click the “Playlists” view in the Navigation pane.
To transfer your playlists to your Sansa using Windows Media Player 11, please follow these steps:
1. If you selected to sync your device automatically, click “Finish”. When you do so, Windows Media Player will sync your entire library to your Sansa. After that, your device will sync every time you connect it to your computer. If you selected to sync your device manually, click “Finish”. Then, in the “Sync” tab, you must select the files and playlists you want to sync manually. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click the “Sync” tab.
b. If you need to clear the List pane before beginning, click the “Clear List pane” button.
c. Drag items such as files, albums, and playlists to the List pane to add them to the list of items to sync.
d. To remove items, select one or more items in the List pane, and then click “Remove from List”.
e. In the List pane, verify that the items you have selected to sync will all fit on the device.
f. Click the “Start Sync” button.
Notes:
- You can select several items at once and then drag them to the List pane. To select adjacent items, press and hold the “Shift” key while selecting. To select non-adjacent items, press and hold the “Ctrl” key while selecting
- By default, playlists are saved with a .wpl extension in the My Playlists folder, which is usually located in the My Music folder. You can also save playlists with the following extensions: .m3u, .asx, .wax, or .wvx.
