Samsung SCH-u740 Alias cell phone questions?
I want to upload my own ringtone to my samsung Alias cell phone. I have it as a 19 second mp3 file, do I need to convert it to a MIDI file, or shorten the length. I have the micro SD card, and want to import it that way. I am also curious about adding music and video clips – any advice there?
The phone is through verizon, I wonder if they blocked those features.
The manual is no use and I haven’t been able to find a user group.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Andy,
yes you need to convert your mp3 file to a midi. All you have to do is find your mp3 file in the file explorer, right click it and change the .mp3 extension to .mid (ignore the unstable warning popup and click ok). Then put this in your my_sounds folder on your micro SD card. If you don’t see a my_sounds folder then your card has to be formatted first. To format it, just put the card in your phone and save a picture to it. After you put your .mid file in the my_sounds folder put the card back into your phone and go through the menu by going to “Get It Now” –> “My Music & Tones” –> “My Sounds”
You should see your .mid file listed. Scroll down to that song and text-message it to yourself. It will get sent back to you as a pix message and when you open it up you can save it as a ringtone in your options (lower right corner). Hope this helps!
