Question about legality of Russian MP3 sites?
I’ve noticed that there are a number of Russian sites offering extremely cheap MP3 downloads. I’m curious if it’s legal to download these, or what the situation is. I’m figuring the site is questionable enough it’s probably best not to distribute credit card info, but what exactly is the legality of buying music (such as 50 cent albums) from sites like this?
They sell the music so cheaply because Russian laws are different, allowing them to sell it at such a low cost. The artists get their money, and we get cheap music, everyone is happy! People are using these sites all over the world without problems, me included, so rest assured, you will be fine!
If you’re still worried, look into a site called AllofMP3. It was the first cheap site and was it closed down by the authorities. All charges against the site were later dropped as they it was found to be legal. The closure of this site gave birth to millions more cheap, legal mp3 download sites.
Just avoid places like limewire, frostwire or anywhere claiming to offer free songs, as these sites are illegal!
