i just downloaded audacity and im wondering how to lower bitrate?
supposedly that’s supposed to make my mp3 download faster onto my myspace.. but when i looked at the original it was only .05 mbs larger than when i reduced it? i dont understand this.. all i really want to know is how to make this song small enough to where it will download fast enough so people actually get to hear it. thanks. =]
Open Audacity and then open the file in Audacity. Look at the top left of the file. You should see an X to close it, and right next to that a bit of the title and drop-down arrow. Click on it. At the very bottom of the list that appears, you’ll see an option for Set Rate. You can choose the bitrate from there.

Make a backup copy of your file before you do this! If what you do changes the tone, pitch, or sound quality then you have something to fall back on. You can also set the sample rate in a similar fashion, but I don’t recommend that you do both. Choose one or the other.
