I got a good deal on this “lowrider” stereo from wally world i need to know how i can replace my existing deck
Background:
My Pioneer deh-1400 does not have any place for an ipod so while i was at wall mart i noticed that they had this “lowrider” stereo deck for only $50. I took the fm transmitter that i was going to buy back on the shelf and figured that id spent $40 more on the “lowrider” system (originally priced at $99).
Question: I have not started connecting anything yet, the lowrider deck says it has a 18 pin plug… WILL THIS MATCH UP WITH MY PIONEER’S PINS AND HARNESS IN THE BACK?

I know the pioneer is a much better deck but there is no friggin way to connect my mp3 player without having to hack into some fm frequency. I’m hoping ive made a good decision by purchasing the one i am, especially due to the fact it was half off.

No, your wires will not match from the Pioneer to the “LowRider.” All manufacturers have their pins set up differently. Some even differ within the same manufacturer but different models. If you don’t have one already, you need to pick up a wiring harness that plugs into your factory harness and then you can color match the wires to your new radio (found at local car audio shops or crutchfield.com). This is the easiest way since you just have to match teh colors.
Or you can have to have the diagram of what the colors mean on your car and match them up to your “lowrider wires” so you don’t burn out the radio or pop a fuse on your car.
