Piaggio mp3 125cc is it suitable?
I intend to commute in London on the new MP3 125cc. Would the engine be robust enough to easily cover 4-5K miles per annum. Does anyone know of any problems with the bike that have been identified.
There is a rule of thumb in that you work out the distance you intend to travel in a day double it and add 50 and this is the capacity of the bike you should be using.
But for every increment of 10 mph over 30 miles distance there is a % increase factor
So if you travel 25 miles to work thats 50 return trip so double it 100 and add 50 = 150cc.
so if you were travelling 50 miles to work, then it would be
100 x 2 +50= 250 x 1.2 ( percentage increase) = 290cc
This isn’t totally accurate but as I said its a rule of thumb.
alternately the other rule is to work out the mileage you intent to travel in a week halve it and this is the capacity of the machine you should be using.
so 25 miles to work = 50 miles a day =250 miles in a week X 1/2 = 125cc
