The first accessory that you should consider is a case, or “skin”, of some sort, for your iPod – not just to demonstrate your own individuality and flair, as many owners like to, but also to offer some real, physical protection. You can play it straight, and simple, with transparent, self-adhesive films that can be affixed to the iPod screen, or the whole body, or you can opt for something more upbeat, and sturdy, in the form of cases in plastic, silicon, rubber, leather or metal, in a range of colours and designs – the choice is yours.

Before you find the nearest retailer, or online store, and blow your entire accessory budget on gimmicks, remember that not all iPod accessories are designed for all iPod models, and many are model-specific, and think about the accessories that will really make a difference to you. Even the most expensive, top-of-the-range headphones, for example, will remain strangely silent, if you should have invested in an extra battery pack instead.
