Women, do you feel nervous about venturing into weightlifting at the gym?
I do, unless it is empty. Usually it is jam-packed with men and very, very few women. All the men make me uncomfortable and a little intimidated..because sometimes they stare when a female enters their territory..a few even watch me doing my reps…does any female feel like this? Having my mp3 player on and tuning out doesn’t help much.
No, I don’t worry about it. Think of it this way–you’re much better than the women who choose not to lift because they’re too scared. I think guys respect women who lift weights. They just watch because they’re guys, and they have to. It’s in their genetic makeup. Keep on doing your thing.
