Windows Vista Recording Audio Issue?
Hi, I have a Toshiba A200 laptop with Windows Vista and use a previously used a program called Mp3MyMp3 to record playing/streaming audio with “Stereo Mix” as the source, but in Vista all that appears is Master Volume and this records absolutely nothing. I think the sound card is Realtek High Definition Audio and i’ve tried the following:
Right click speaker –> recording devices, right click empty space –> tick show disabled devices and stereo mix appears, I enabled it along with unticking DC Offset and still nothing.
What do I need to do to be able to successfully record sound files in MP3 format and for it to pick up sound in these programs like XP did so easily?
Side Note: Not even Sound Recorder included with Vista works, although that can’t do MP3 and the quality is shizenhousen…
There should be a setting somewhere where you can adapt the recording volume. It could be set to zero or switched of.
If the volume settings only show the master volume, the specific volumes are switched of within the volume configuration settings. It should be able to show multiple volume bars. Like CD-audio, Synth, Mic, Aux, Video, Wave, etc. As long as you can’t see those audio bars, you can’t check anything.
Also check this: start / run / services.msc.
Check that all audio related services are switched on (‘Automatic’).
