How do I handle all of these classes?

OK, I know it’s still summer but I just got my school schedule and I’m kind of freaking out. My schedule:

1.English 11 Honors (Mp1&2)
1.Spanish 3 (Mp3&4)
2.Anatomy & Physiology Honors (Mp1&2)
2.Photography 2 (Mp3&4)
3.Env.Science/Nat. Resources 1 (Mp1&2)
3.Social Studies 11 Honors (Mp3&4)
4.Adv. Food Prep & Production (Mp1&2)
4.Algebra 2 w/ Stats (Mp3&4)

And yes, we only have 4 periods a day (not including lunch) they’re 1 hour and 30 minutes. I was pushed into honors because I got high grades in regular classes but I’m afraid that I’m not going to have time with soccer in the fall and xc, then track and soccer in the winter, and soccer in the spring. How did you balance all of your honors classes and sports and still have time to just relax?

Wow! I wish I had your schedule back in high school! During my Junior and Senior years, I had 2 honors and 3 AP classes both years all on top of football, wrestling and track. I was in sports year round and had homework up the @ss from my Advanced Placement classes! One thing I learned was DON”T PROCRASTINATE!!!!!!!!! If you keep putting off your homework and assignments, you will fall behind (especially if you have honors classes-let alone college level AP classes which makes it seem impossible to catch up). When Soccer season creeps up on you, you’re gonna have to really learn to budget your time EFFECTIVELY!! If you get ANY free time during school hours in class, open up that social studies book and get that chapter homework done. Trust me, you will thank yourself for doing it! I don’t know how long your sport’s practice is after school but once you get home, get most of your homwork/ readings done and go to sleep. Stay away from the computer, tell your friends you will text them later, and watch your shows some other time-you can do all that AFTER your homework is done. It may be hard at first but you gotta discipline yourself. Try to wake up like a hour or two early and drag yourself to get your homework done before that class period. Also if you’re desperate, try prioritising by doing your Algebra 2 homework in your earlier periods (if you can ) if you didn’t get a chance to finish it up at home. Don’t let your teachers see that..cover it up with a book for discreteness and try to listen to the lecture while doing your homework :-) . That’s basically what I did all those years and I was ALWAYS on the honor roll.

Bottom line is look into your schedule and really take things out that are unessential and see at what times during the day you can allot to academic work. The rest will be for your extracurriculars and social life. You can still have a life having so many honors classes, trust me! I was in a much worser situation and I made it; so can you! Don’t freak out, once you get the hang of those classes and get your time budgeting down packed, it will be routine and I’m sure you will make ample time to relax and enjoy yourself. Best of luck in school! :-D

Jim Croce Photographs & Memories: His Greatest Hits

$6.63

Until his untimely death, Jim Croce was a force to be reckoned with on radio playlists. Photographs & Memories repackages some of his best work. Romantic acoustic-oriented songs were his hallmark, and songs like “Time in a Bottle,” were huge hits because of their easy sentimentality. “I Got a Name” was the singer as well-worn folk traveler, while “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” and even “You Don’t Mess Aro…

Miracle

In collaborating on Miracle, Celine Dion and her partner in baby love Anne Geddes carefully sidestepped the L-word–a smart move, considering that the songs captured here, despite their electric-blanket warmth, aren’t always lullaby-like in their delivery. Though the collaboration is about babies–the liner notes to this CD provide a sneak peek at Geddes’ visual wizardry available in both the exp…

La Bamba

Lou Diamond Phillips leaves a haunting impression as the late 1950s pop idol Ritchie Valens, who made the Latino influence in rock & roll conspicuous through his hit songs. Filmmaker Luis Valdez (Zoot Suit) creates a nimble, exciting, and sympathetic portrait of the boy driven to rise above obstacles of race and family legacy, and Esai Morales is equally fine as Ritchie’s envious, searching brothe…
