Auxiliary Jack, high pitch squeel?
I have a 94 integra with a Sony Xplod Head unit, with the aux jack. I have 4 sony xplod 300 watt speakers, 2 dual speakers, and 2 pioneer tweeters, in addition to a sony xplod 12 inch sub. I had one cheap mp3 player hooked in to the jack and it sounded great. Then I bought a 6 gig Phillips Mp3 player, top of the line, and I plug it in and with or without any music playing, you hear a high pitch squeel in the backround as soon as the phillips mp3 player is hooked in. I unhook it, no squeel. I put the cheap mp3 player in, no squeel. So I get a different aux cable for the phillips mp3 player and the squeel is back, yet when I plug anything into the aux other than the phillips mp3 there is no squeeling sound. And its wierd because there is no squeeling sound when I’m listening to the mp3 player through the headphones, only through the car stereo. Please help, I’m getting really annoyed here
I had a problem like this back with my Jeep. I had a Jensen flip-screen head unit w/ AUX cable that I used for my iPod, fine. Then, when I bought satellite radio and went to connect it to the same cable, horrible squealing noise. It only got worse when I accelerated and didn’t even drown out when the music was high. Turns out this is a ground loop isolation problem. To solve this, you will need a ground loop isolator, similar to the link I placed at the bottom of this posting. This device takes excess electrical current and eliminates it from the signal feed, current and audio transfer just don’t mix well, this thing works like a charm. I could be wrong, but is your mp3 player plugged into the car via a charger of some sort when you are doing this. If you simply remove and can deal without constantly charging it, that could possibly solve your problem, but if not than this will.
