can playing MP3′s that have an occasional chirp noise, in my car stereo cause the speaker to blow?
car stereo is a rockford fosgate that plays mp3 and the second pair of 6×9′s in rear have blown again. is it the player, a bad install or could it be the computer noise?
I’m willing to bet it’s the speakers, I work with music, and know for a fact, that a simple “chirp” sound would not be enough to blow a set of speakers, (could you imagine how much the manufacturers of the CD would be sued if it was easily do-able), and it’s unlikely to be the stereo as Rockford’s are pretty well made, my guess is faulty wiring, or that it could just be down to the fact that a car is not designed to be used as an entertainment system, for the same reason you don’t use a PC to drive to work..
Most speaker blow-outs are occured by setting the gains or channels too high, as long as you don’t go round blasting sound out at full volume like one of these Vauxhall Chavalier people, you’ll be fine.
