Playing my mp3 music files through stereo cause hum.?
Hi,
I am trying to play my record albums (which I recorded to mp3 files on my computer) from the computer through my pioneer stereo but I keep getting a humming noise.
If I play them through the computers speakers they play ok.
Or if burn them to a disk first the disk plays ok.
What could be causing the hum in the direct hookup to the stereo?
Is there a filter that could be used to stop it?

Plugged them both into same ac outlet that seemed to help a little but hum still there. Must be comming from the amplifier.
A ground loop.
Try plugging the stereo into the same electrical outlet as the computer is plugged into.
