mp3 itunes converter freeware

Why aren’t there universal file types for music and video files?

As I was searching for a decent freeware converter tonight the question dawned upon me: why can’t there be universal file types? I know there’s microsoft vs. apple going on but both iTunes and WMP can play .mp3 files. Why couldn’t this work for everything else? If it’s licensing issue, come we not up with an entire third party file format that everyone can use?

apple wants to make money, so they use proprietary stuff so you have to pay them for it. same goes for most companies. the universal file type is MP3 but people can share that without paying, so they put things in place that even might violate your rights by forcing your hardware to delete all your music, that you paid for! if you try and sync it with another computer. but what if you just reload your computer? you would have to re-sync your device and it would delete all your files. they make Mp3 players that use mp3′s but people are to retarded to understand that an ipod is not the best thing they just get caught in the marketing hype. oh I have an ipod, I’m cool. I spent $400 dollars on it and have $600 worth of songs on it. Now my car note is late but I’m still cool.
Look my cell phones have a built in MP3 player (nokia 6255i and 6265i) and plays videos and games why have an extra device? soon cell phones will stream TV as a common place thing. There are plenty of other phones and alternative devices that do the same thing.
But back to your question if they came up with a third party proprietary file type then you could buy music from Microsoft if you owned an ipod and they might loose money cause there customers would have choices and might become self aware.
