Learning Japanese in English when my mother tongue is Spanish?
My mother tongue is Spanish, but I speak English, right now I’m mastering it. The question is that I found an excellent Japanese course, Pimsleur, and I’m doing it right now, but it’s a product designed for English speakers. I don’t have any problems with the mp3, but sometimes I can’t answer quickly the questions the tapes make.
Do you think that studying Japanese in English would affect my learning? Is my brain working harder, if it is, is that a bad situation?

Well, the optimum for learning a language is to read and speak in that language. But in Japanese reading is not that easy, because you have to memorize 3000 kanjis (symbols XD) to be able to read a newspaper. So it’s quite easier to speak it than read it.
I think it’s a great chance to improve two languages at the same time. I know it’s going to be “mendokusai” because you will need to go from Japanese to English to Spanish sometimes, but it really will help in the long run.
(-: And maybe you can get really good, and write a great Spanish/Japanese textbook!
