Why do I like older stuff?
See, I would much prefer playing a game (nes, gb, etc) on its original game system than on an emulator. I’d rather listen to music on a Record rather than in mp3 format. I’d also rather watch a movie on a DVD/VHS tape instead of, say, the same thing but downloaded off the internet. It just feels… right. I’m 18, and too young to have played an NES or to have bought Records, so regular nostalgia is right out, I think.
I’d like to know why.
There is value to be found in having an authentic experience. You know that everything is as it was intended to be by it’s creator. You are experiencing it on it’s original format and it is just like it was when it was new. It is basically the same as nostalgia except the fact that you haven’t experience it before just means that your perception of how enjoyable it is is not distorted by your memories of having enjoyed it before.
