adding a USB port to my car to charge my mp3 player?
I want to solder in a USB port to my car to charge my mp3 player.
USB specification is:
pin 1 = 5V,
pin 4 = ground.
The car’s stereo power is 12 volts.
How do I hook up pin 1 of the USB cable for power, since it needs 5 V not 12 V?

I want the USB port only to charge the mp3 player, not to play music through it.
You can get a plug in converter that will mate up to your mp3 player. Garmin visio, Motorola Razr, and my mp3 player all take the same converter.
