Looking for MP3 players that can play library books and have bookmarks?
Hi, I am looking for a MP3 player that can play public library audio books (I am using OverDrive Medio Console). Can anyone recommend mp3 players that have bookmark functions, and could work with the library books. I would like to find an inexpensive ones, and I don’t need any fancy functions. I don’t need FM radio or picture or video. All I need is: 1. Can work with subscription (protected) books. 2. Have bookmarks. 3. Have display screen. Thank you for your suggestions.
Happily players with this sort of functionality are much more common now and a lot lower in price than they used to be. Bookmarking – or at the least, mid track resume meaning it starts where you left off – is a key need for audio books.
Another very handy thing to have is a within track rewind or forward, kind of like an old tape player. Very useful for educational books where you may want to roll back a few seconds.
Any decent player will be able to play protected files. Just be sure that the player is not a passive i.e., mp3 only player. It has to be able to play encoded WMA files (Windows media audio) Ideally – and again any decent one should be – Audible compatible. Audible being the “Amazon” of the audio books market and have their own format variation.
I asked the same question myself recently and was told that the iRiver Clix and iAudio D2 are ideal. That was a few months ago so they may have come down in price a bit now or been replaced. Both also have really nice screens.
