Is 256 kbps of an aac file better than 184 kbps of am mp3 file?
I am questioning whether or not I should purchase a song on Itunes or download it free. The free version is a 184 kbps mp3 song, but I know that iTunes uses aac files at 256 kpbs. Is one better than the other?
the 256 aac is better. Aac is a different type of compression than MP3 but they are both similar. However, 256 kilobytes per second is more than 184 kilobytes per second, which means the song streams more data to be interpreted by the MP3 player (program or device).
How the compression system works is the program or device interprets the data, and fills in the gaps, if there is more data to read, it has less blanks to fill in, in a theoretical sense. this makes the quality better, because the program or device does not have to “Guess” as much to which bytes to fill in to emulate the sound.
more kbps means a more complete file, with more sound range and more frequencies. the better the kbps, the better the quality and fullness of the actual song.
Also, I know Apple in Itunes somehow makes thier song increadibly with good quality for some reason, with good bass and treble.
However, perhaps you could try an alternative method of downloading the song than the one u currently use.
