cut mp3 files shorter
Why does my audio stretch out when imported to Windows Movie Maker?

Whenever I import an MP3 to Windows Movie Maker (for Vista) it shows it as about 2 or 3 times longer than the actual file. And for some reason it plays the audio for the entire time too! For example, I have a 3 minute long music file. When the 3 minute long music file is imported, it suddenly becomes the 6 minutes long. Audio plays only for the 3 minutes if I don’t press anything, but if I try to trim it, the audio magically elongates and gets cut short. When I publish the movie to my computer it only plays for the original length of the song and the rest is just blank audio. Why does this happen?

Check your Default Duration Settings in WMM.

Click Tool, Options and Advanced
Click Restore all Defaults

This will restore the general Default duration settings for your WMM. Can’t say that it will help, but it’s worth a try. It is quite possible the default for transitions and durations was interfering with your video run-time.
