Does USB regulate a power supply?
I have a Creative Zen Micro Mp3 player, but i do not want to pay 35$ for a wall charger. But for the time being i am useing my computer to charge it threw USB. But this takes to long. I Also have a USB hub for my computer, and i noticed it had a DC 5v (2.1A) power outlet in it, so possibly if i could find a power adapter i could plug it into the USB hub, then plug a USB cord into the USB hub and use a USB cord to charge my Mp3 player. i do not want my Mp3 player fried, and i heard from an electrician that USB regulates power, so that it will not fry my Mp3 player. Is this true?
First off the USB should charge relatively quickly. Not more than a hour or so until it is complete as long as you are using USB version 2, USB version 1 does not have as much power supplied to it. aAnother option you can look into is going into your USB root hub and making sure under properties that you do not have the USB set so the power can be turned off by the computer to conserve energy. I would not plug into the 5V power supply unless you know that is nto too much power for you MP3 player. Check out your MP3 players spec online and try to find what the Home plug charger puts out before plugging it into that power suppy.
