why is the mp3 file bitrate always different?
I have converted flac files to mp3. The information that my pc has, it says that the bit rate of the song is 320 kps, but when i open the file on programs like winamp or foobar, it tells me that the file is 230kps. So which is the accurate result?
2nd question: I convert the files using lame encoder, but when I use winamp, it says the decoder is nullsoft mpeg audio decoder 4.7, shouldn’t it say lame?
320kbps is the maximum for mp3 (within the standard). It may be that you have a variable bitrate file with 230kbps as the average bitrate your operating system is just reporting the maximum reached in the file (320kpbs).
The encoder and decoder are different things. When you play in winamp, it uses the Nullsoft MPEG Audio Decoder.
