Is there going to be a new iPod Touch? (october-December ’09))?
im gonna maybe get the ipod touch 8gb 3rd gen for my bday on the 29th of september ’09 but is apple gonna start selling an even NEWER model in either october, november, or december?

I understand your concern. I just bought a 64GB to replace my 32GB 2nd generation. Most of the internet chatter points towards there not being a new one before Christmas. Here is the best buying guide I could find (which works for anything Apple)

There hasn’t been an ipod released and then replaced in less than 3 months as you can see on the Buyer’s Guide.
However, there are a few things that are not adding up:

While all of America is calling the newest iPods 3rd Generation, Apple is not. They are calling it the “newest generation”, and referring to it on its accessory page as the second generation touch. Notice every iPod is listed except the “3rd generation iPod Touch” Why? Because it hasn’t been released yet.

I am not sure what this means. No one knows for sure. One option – have your friends get it at Best Buy. At least they have a 30 day no questions asked return policy, without a restocking fee. My guess is we might be looking at a 3rd generation touch in Feb/March 2010, about the same time these rumored tablets will be coming out. But that is a guess. I also guessed I would be holding an iPod Touch with a camera right now.
