Touch 32Gb Ipod 3Rd Generation
Overall, I really like the device and the positives outweigh the negatives. There are a ton of reviews out there, so I am not going to hammer away at all aspects of the device. Just what matters to me.
The Good:
Very responsive device.
There are a ton of accessories for this thing that expand its usefulness.
Web browsing is better than on any mobile device I have used shy of a netbook or laptop. The zoom function is fantastic.
Touch screen interface is much better than any touch interface I have used before.
The Bad:
Apple and their draconian policies. Apple gets such a pass from its zealot fan base on their complete lockdown of everything they produce or manage. Either you play their way or not at all. That policy will eventually be their undoing.
No expandability. You cannot add SD cards or other storage. If you run out of space, upgrade or learn to delete.
There is no native way to access the storage on the device as a removable drive or mount point.
iTunes. I hate iTunes, and if you want to use this device without hacking it, you had better learn to live with the garbage that is iTunes. I am a big boy (a very big boy for that matter), and I have my own system for organizing MY data. I am offended by any application that thinks it know s better than me. I have had a steady struggle forcing iTunes to work the way I want it to rather than adjusting my way to fit it. See my thoughts on Apple and their policy/attitude toward freedom…
Battery life is pretty mediocre. I let the kids play games on it and have to charge it daily. I have only had it for about 3 weeks, so I doubt I have trashed the battery yet.
Other:
The App Store – I just do not see what the fuss is about. Most of the apps are time wasting garbage. Maybe I just have not spent enough time digging through it all. I just do not see the value in having a dozen apps telling me not to press the red button or an app that predicts the consistency of someone’s next bowel movement. From all the furor, I was expecting innovation and solutions to real productivity problems.
There are a few good ones, but there is a lot of trash to wade through to find them.
I do not see the benefit to the touch 32GB iPod 3G or another medel over the 2G. Real differences would have been a camera, GPS, better batter life.
For all my carping, I do not let it out of arms reach much. I really do like the device. There are just a lot of things that I believe could have been done better.

touch 32GB iPod is my first apple product and i am very pleased with it. The first day I bought it I synched thousands of songs from my music library to it, purchased an e-book, since you can use it as a e-reader and downloaded countless applications,and a handful of games.The touch 32GB iPod is not cheap mind you but when you take into consideration all it can do its totally worth it, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants an mp3,e-book reader,movie player, pocket pc etc.
