Apple IPODs – what does 2nd and 5th generation mean?
Thinking of getting the latest ipod nano 8gb in black. Know nothing about them. Have done a bit of research but can’t find an explanation of the different generations. Were these different models or launch dates and how can I tell I’m getting the latest one?
The first thing is that there didn’t used to be an 8GB model. It’s new with the 2nd generation nano.
The first generation were only 2GB and 4GB. There are some improvements in battery life and the software as well. The material used to be different like the ones on the video ipod – which I hate, it’s the same material they used on the 2G iPod back in like 2003! – now they are made of aluminum which is better doesn’t scratch like the old iPod Mini.
